Today is the second World Engineering Day for Sust Today is the second World Engineering Day for Sustainable Development, which is a new UNESCO initiative within the scope of Horizon 2020 and it's obviously my favorite world holiday now. 🌱 So, in honour of that I'm dropping a new Erratic hat podcast episode where Manca @mancazup and I had a chat about sustainable architecture and technologies, dragons as fire hazard and climate change mentality. 👒 She's an architect and a fellow sustainability geek, so come give it a listen, you might learn something new - link in bio! 🤓 Also available on Spotify, Deezer etc. and yes, I am making people wear hats if they have a guest episode.
P. S.: Also check out Manca's geek shop @art.maniushka.

Today's #erraticbookwednesdays book recommendation Today's #erraticbookwednesdays book recommendation is a classic - Aldous Huxley's Brave New World. You've probably heard of this one and if you haven't, you should have, because it's becoming increasingly relevant in our modern era.👀 Unlike most of the stuffy classics, it's super readable, short and the plot is intriguing enough that you'll breeze right through it. However, the time to read it is now - I just saw that Netflix released a Brave New World TV series and they took extreme creative liberties with the plot, so read it now before it gets spoiled forever.📺 Have you read it or seen it? If you need extra incentive, it's set in an advanced hyper civilised society, where everyone is happy at the cost of a total lack of privacy, no family ties and no monogamy or love. It's a world of information overload, Pavlovian conditioning, genetic engineering and mandatory mood-adjusting drugs - but hey, everyone's happy! 🍬 Until a savage comes a long and throws a wrench into their little forced fairytale...
'But I don't want comfort. I want God, I want poetry, I want real danger, I want freedom, I want goodness. I want sin.' A. Huxley - Brave New World

I haven't done a recipe post in a while and even t I haven't done a recipe post in a while and even though it's starting to smell like spring here, I figured I'd share my take on Slovenian classic winter stews. ❄️ Jota and segedin are two of my favourites, so come check out my versions of traditional recipes on the blog - link in bio. 🍴What's your favourite winter stew from your country?

It's Wednesday again and today's #erraticbookwedne It's Wednesday again and today's #erraticbookwednesdays book recommendation is the Celtic blood series by Melanie Karsak, starting with the Highland Raven. This one was a recent read and I absolutely loved it from the start. It's a historical fiction series set in 11th century Scotland and it tells the reimagined life story of Lady Macbeth - you know, the one from Shakespeare. In a way it rehabilitates her reputation and follows her as she tries to navigate between her foretold fate in service of an old Celtic goddess during the rise of Christianity, political intricacies that end up putting her on the throne with a mad husband, her own desires and the harsh realities of daily life as a woman back then. Obviously the real history gets bent quite a bit around the edges, but the whole series flows so well and has all the right details that bring back an echo of a time when the world was smaller, simpler and full of old magic.
.
'Earth is the embodiment of fertility. Think of it; we put a seed in the ground, it grows, from it springs food that allows us to live. To me, that is magic.' M. Karsak - Highland Raven
