“Why do you go away? So that you can come back. So that you can see the place you came from with new eyes and extra colors. And the people there see you differently, too. Coming back to where you started is not the same as never leaving.”

T. Pratchett

Photo impressions and handy travel guides from all the places I’ve visited and managed to cover on my blog so far. My backlog is continuously increasing, so subscribe to stay up to date with my new posts when I manage to write them.

English nostalgia

“There is nothing like looking, if you want to find something. You certainly usually find something, if you look, but it is not always quite the something you were after.” J.R.R. Tolkien

I spent half a year studying in the UK in 2017/2018, mostly solo travelling allover England and Scotland and had many adventures on the way. Check out the Scottish part here!

Wandering Australia

“I wanted to explain that I am constantly overestimating and underestimating the human race-that rarely do I ever simply estimate it. I wanted to ask her how the same thing could be so ugly and so glorious, and its words and stories so damning and brilliant.” M. Zusak

You can read something about how I decided to go to Australia by myself here.

The allure of Sweden

“Allan had always reasoned about religion that if you couldn’t know for sure then there was no point in going around guessing.” J. Jonasson

I studied in the beautiful north of Sweden for a year in 2018/2019 and explored everywhere else as well.

“Speed bonnie boat like a bird on the wing, onward the sailors cry. Carry the lad that’s born to be king, over the sea to Skye.” the Skye boat song

My Slovenia

“I had just vividly demonstrated to myself what a tremendous force faith is, and how easy it is to awaken. You just need to know a little bit more than the ones who are supposed to believe. Then it’s easy to work miracles.” V. Bartol (photo by: Eva Bezek)

Slovenia is a small, chicken-shaped Central European country of about 2 million people, which happens to be my home. Despite the fact that you can drive from the head to the butt of the chicken in less than 4 hours, we have it all: Alpine mountains, emerald rivers, vanishing lakes, thick forests with a booming brown bear population, plenty of castles and culture, as well as a whole 47 km of the seaside.

Proud Georgia

“When he built his house, he calmed down a little, he seemed to emerge from his dungeon and find permanent freedom. He really felt this when he first shut himself in his still damp, half-built house and stretched out on his back on the dirty floor, like a herdsman in the open fields.” O. Chiladze

Industrious Germany

“To me, nudity is a joke. I don’t think nude people are very attractive at all. I like my women fully clothed. I like to imagine what might be under there. It might not be the standard thing. Imagine, stripping a woman down, and she has a body like a little submarine. With periscope, propellers, torpedoes. That would be the one for me. I’d marry her right off and be faithful to the end.” C. Bukowski

Classical Austria

“Be patient toward all that is unsolved in your heart and try to love the questions themselves, like locked rooms and like books that are now written in a very foreign tongue. Do not now seek the answers, which cannot be given you because you would not be able to live them.” R.M. Rilke

“Perhaps in the future, man will go into the Arctic, in the same way as in biblical times, man journeyed into the desert in search of the truth.” C. Ritter
